Health Span

Friday, November 3rd, 2006

The Healthspan blog is all about being healthy!  This blog has been going for about 6 months and there are new posts and articles posted every couple of days.  The site has a couple of contributors in John and Rebecca, which gives a good balance in the posts.  They cover healthy living for both men and women.  All Healthspan posts are archived into several categories which makes it easier to find specific information.  When we looked over the site, we just started reading the current page, and just browsed back over the older posts.

The Blog format is a great way to present articles and not just for blogging.  The layout and navigation just makes it easy to not only find articles, but when you do they are easy to read on-screen.

Now you might wonder what sort of articles you might find on a site called healthspan.  Well, they actually cover quite a lot!  With categories such as Aging, Exercise to stay young, Healthcare and Nutrition you get the idea that they cover a fair range.  Just looking at one of the categories - Exercise, it has had at least 1 new artice each month.  Nearly all categories are the same, they have posts both old and new.

I really like the writing style of this site.  It is fairly relaxed and provides the information in a way that is easy to understand.  A lot of lifestyle type sites are just too much like an encyclopedia (and who sits down to read an encyclopedia) - not here.

Dating Culture

Wednesday, November 1st, 2006

At some point in our life, we nearly all find a partner and fall in love. For the most part, we generally find someone from the same or a similar cultural background, but not always.  If you fall in love with someone from a different background, you may experience some ups and downs due to the cultural differences and what is and is not acceptable when dating. This is where the articles on Intercultural dating may save you from cultural misunderstandings with your new found partner.

Dating culture has articles covering most aspects of dating, lifestyles, marriage and romance and even online romances.  The dating section has articles on dating habits of various countries.  Some of the countries include US, UK, India and Korea.  Just reading these articles gives an interesting insight into the culture of various parts of the world, even if you are not dating someone from that part of the world.

If we look at just one country such as dating in Thailand, you can gain quite an insight into the overall customs of dating, marriage and romance within this region.  It would be safe to assume that anoyne who was born and raised in such a culture would bring their beliefs with them if they moved to say the US to attend University.  This is where someone from the US would likely become involved with someone from another cultural background and want to understand the customs of the person they might become involved with.

The website is based on a Blog, and as such it works quite well.  The articles are easy to find by category, and they invite the reader to participate by commenting on an article.  If you have experience with dating someone from another culture, they even invite you to write something about it and submit your story/experiences.

If you are wanting to find some specific information on the dating customs around the world or are simply looking for cultural information in general, then I am sure you will find an article or 2 of interest.

Marcell

Sunday, October 22nd, 2006

Marcell are Professional Make-up artists who are based in Sydney Australia. Their mission is to accentuate your beauty and bring out your best. By ustilising the skills and experience of their professional team who are passionate about what they do they will deliver glamourous looks for any occasion. It does not matter if you are making a movie or Televison show or a bride wanting the best of Wedding Makeup done on your special day, Marcell can help.

The website uses a distinctive pink for the navigation. It is not a colour often seen on a website, but it works well with the site design. The site is obviously set up to help advertise and promote their business and the information presented about the products and services offered look to be complete and easy to understand. By using attractive graphics the site is not only functional but visually appealing.

A lot of websites that promote a company or business tend to only have info about the company and services and very little else. Not so with Marcell, their Makeup Tips provide information for anyone who is interested in makeup. A lot of companies don’t give much back, but this is not the case here with articles on a lot of topics.

I know that not a lot of people are interested in make-up, but maybe you run a complimentary business such as a modelling agency or photographer. They are always looking to partner with other businesses, so why not take a look.

Brain Bucket Magazine

It doesn’t matter if you have a casual interest or never get out of your Leathers, the Brain Bucket Magazine has something for everyone who is interested in ikes and biking.

With a distinctive Read and Black theme the site uses a fluid width 3 column layout with navigation on the left and a large content area.  The home page has links to recent blog entries and the latest news Items.  While the Site is only a couple of Months old, it already has an impressive number of articles and information.

What biker site would be complete without a Babes Gallery?  Any yes, you won’t be dissapointed here.  There is a nice collection of Bikes and Babes in the gallery (I think there were bike pics, I was a bit distracted).  There are a lot of community areas that round off the site from Forums and Recipies to jokes and Blogs.

The Brain Bucket Magazine, is an in your face Biker E-Zine with biker parties, biker pictures, tech tips and tricks, biker news, biker views, and lots more cool stuff for bikers.
