Get the word out

Sunday, May 20th, 2007

Getting your website noticed these days is a large task that you can attack in several ways. You can submit it to directories and search engines, you can use Pay Per Click advertising or you can get everyone talking about it.

Well, getting everyone talking about your site is far easier than you thought - all you need to do is to use one of the most effective word of mouth marketing methods available today -and that is Bloggers. Getting your site noticed and talked about by bloggers used to be pretty difficult - but with services like Pay Per Post you can find bloggers all over the world who will create the buzz and get the word out about your site.

Now, as a blogger, getting paid to do what I love to do is why I really like PPP - I simply log in every few days, and look at the opportunities that are available to me. If I find one that fits my site, I simply write a post and best of all I get paid for it. Getting paid to do what I love to do makes me a few $$ so that I can cover things like my hosting of my site. I am pretty fussy about the opportunities I pick up and have only made a few hundred $$. The bit of money I have made is a bonus to me and I usually buy myself something with any money I make. If you have a blog - why not sign up and see if it cannot give you some spending money!

Buy your own Nation

Sunday, May 13th, 2007

No longer do you need to be a multi-millionare megalomaniac to own your own country - you can make your mark in the virtual world and Buy a nation of your own. Now you are probably wondering why anyone would want to buy even a virtual nation and the answer is simple.

You get to own the nation on a world map that links to your website. Not only do you get a link, but you can also put a picture on the map to represent your country.

Yes, over the last few years we have seen pixel advertising sites the first was the Million Dollar site, but this has to be one of the most exciting and innovative Plxel sites since the first.

I am currently looking at some of the smaller nations and considering buying one myself!

The most accurate websites on the Internet

Wednesday, April 25th, 2007

Wow, that is a pretty big claim isn’t it. The new MasterMOZ Directory is making a stand with some great innovations that have the real potential to make it the most accurate (and useful) directory around. Sure, we have looked at other directories in the past and your first question, like mine is probably what makes this one so unique immediately followed by how can they claim to be the most accurate! Well, after just a couple of minutes looking, the answer to both questions can be found.

The MasterMOZ directory is unlike any other, but similar to all. It has a totally different paradigm for a listing. First, you sign up for a free account, then you are eligible to immediately make a listing. In order to test this out, We signed up and created a listing and yes, the listing was available immediately!

With such a system in place you might think that is is open to abuse and that everyone will sign up and add all sorts of spammy sites. Well, that is true BUT the listing is unlikely to stay around for very long. You see, the power of this directory is that with a free account, you can only list a single site. Every single member can add a rating, review and comment about every site listed. This means that a listing that is not accurate will gain a lot of negative feedback by other people listing in the same category! In addition to this, there are reviewers in each category who will flag any in-appropriate listings. If a listing is flagged the Author will have 14 days to correct it otherwise it will be removed from the directory.

Of course, we signed up and tested it. It was simple and only took a couple of minutes to sign up and create a listing. As far as the site goes, it looks similar to other directories so it is easy to use. The members page gives you info about your listings along with details about upgrading your account so you can list more sites.

They have put together a directory that is a bit different which I hope gets the support of the Webmaster community and grows to be a useful directory that lives up to the claims.

Invisible or E-Visible

Monday, April 2nd, 2007

So what is it? is your site Invisible or is it E-Visible? Well, all sites start at the former and hope to get to the latter ASAP and of course, not everyone has the know-how to go from invisible to e-visibile. E:visibility can help you get your website seen and found online with a crafted SEO campaign. The first thing that I noteced about their website was the chance to sign up and get a free Report on your website. They provide a SEO assesment and even a competitor analysis.

The E:Visibilty homepage is very clear on the services that they offer - it is right there on the homepage. You can find out about SEM (Search engine Marketing) which is a paid Search campaign and Organic Search (SEO) just to name a couple. I had a quick read thru their offerings and went back to the homepage. As I don’t have a website that is the face of a company or even a website that sells anything that needs to get targetted traffic I looked around for what else their site offerred.

What I found was their SEO Blog and even though it only has a few posts, I was quite impressed with the content. The posts clearly explained some SEO terms and concepts that I had not actually seen explained that way before. The content of the blog seemed to me thatthe writer definatley knows quite a lot about SEO and SEM. The good info didn’t stop at their blog, there are also a good collection of great SEO Articles. The articles were grouped together and presented in a way that made sense.

The amount and quality of free info that is provided on the E:Visibility website gives me confidence that they would be a company that I would put on my short list when looking for an SEO company. I would request a free report and see what they recommended as part of my evaluation of their offerings.

SEO Commentary

Wednesday, February 28th, 2007

Most webmasters are on the prowl for the next tidbit of info that will push their site to the 1st page of the SERPS.  Now, the SEO Haiku blog might not have that tip, but it is an interesting blog on SEO-related issues.  They comment on a variety of current SEO-related issues that are of interest to most webmasters.

Anyone who has looked up Haiku will know that it is a 5-7-5 format of poetry that originated in Japan.  Now, apart from some great SEO commentary, I was expecting to find a little bit of Haiku on the site.  I only found one in their header -

Discover Secrets
To Optimizing Your site
Through ways of Haiku

Now, while it is reasonably clever - 1 is never enough!  So, I have made my own attempt -

Referers from Search
Google, Yahoo, M.S.N
S.E.O. Success

Ok, as much fun as that was, lets take a bit of a closer look at the site.  A nice header, the usual static pages, typical blog navigation of latest articles and archives are easily found.  The content of the posts is reasonably closely aligned to what are the current “hot SEO Topics” on the Webmaster Forums.  The Blogger reviews the issue, and either makes a comment or poses a question about the topic.  It gets you thinking a bit about the subject of the post.

While there is not a post everyday, SEO Haiku generally gets updated about once a week, so in your overall blog -reading, it won’t take a lot of time to stay up to date with what is going on.  Reading it won’t make you a SEO professional overnight, but it will give you additional things to think about that might improve your results.

Free Text Links

Friday, November 3rd, 2006

All Webmasters know how time-consuming it can be to build links to their websites.  You can go out and submit your site to directories, write articles and post them to Article sites or request a link exchange with other sites.  Well, part of this might just get a bit easier if you look at what Free Text Link Ads has to offer.  You just sign up, create Your ad, and then insert a small amount of code on your site.  Now, you will display links (free text ads) for other sites, and other sites will display your Ads.

Now, you may ask how this differs from any other link trade.  Well it differs in a couple of ways.  Every time you display an ad, you earn credits, and every time your ads are displayed, you “pay” with already earned credits.  You never have to worry if you are getting a good trade, as the credit system levels the playing field and ensures that your linking partners are in fact partners. They have a good FAQ that explains all of the details of how it works.

Additionally, while you are there, you can submit your site to their Directory.  All submissions are paid, and I am guessing that the money they recieve from the submissions helps keep the Free Text link Ads part of the website all going.  I know that I am going to sign up with some of my sites and see how it goes.

Presell Page Man

Wednesday, October 25th, 2006

Nearly everyone who owns a website or runs a web business is looking for the best possible way to either promote thier products or to profit from their website. I want to introduce you to something that you may or may not have heard of. pre sell pages or HMP (Hosted Marketing Pages) is a concept that has been around for a couple of years and is probably the most under-utilised method of marketing on the Internet today.

A HMP or presell page is where you get a marketing page for your product or service Hosted as a page on Somebody else’s website. It is done in such a way so that it looks just like another content page on their website.  Not only is it a hosted page, but they usually have some very well placed deep links into your site.  Now there are a lot of reasons why someone might want to do this, but of course the major ones include things like getting a page on what is considered to be an Authority site, such as on an .edu domain.  A page on say a University site that talks about your site gives a lot of credibility to you and that is the edge that presell pages offers over other methods of marketing.  Of course, the other edge is that the links to you are embedded within unique content about you as well.

Now we know a little about, lets look at the how.  In order for this to work, the best way is to use a broker type service such as Presell Page Man. They act as a broker putting sellers and buyers in touch with each other, and generally have an inventory of sites that will host your HMP.

If you have ever tried to get .edu text links you would know how hard it is, but if you want to go even better and have some content hosting on .edu that gives great credence to you and will certainly blast the competition away, then this concept might be what you are looking for.  I can really only begin to explain the concepts here, but if you want more info about how HMP pages can help you or even more detail as to what they are then check out the FAQ

Now, for a webmaster who owns an established content or Authoritive site on a subject this might be a way for you to earn some extra income. As a webmaster, you are always looking for unique content right? why not have someone pay you to host their content!  There are a few “rules” that keep the whole HMP concept alive and working, and that is of course that a webmaster should NEVER disclose the fact that he has HMP pages as part of his (or her) website.  This adds to the credibility of both your site as well as to the Buyers site.  A correctly written HMP will look exactly like any other content page on your site, right down to the internal mavigation structure (and maybe even the contextual advertising block you have on all of your content pages).  The secret is to not let it resemble and “infomercial” in any way, shape or form, it is just part of your site.
