I would rather be..

Sunday, April 29th, 2007

.. doing almost anything else other than the assigned task in school or college. How many times have you had the same thought. The teacher is standing up front blah blah blah and you really don’t give a rip about what they are saying… So instead of listening you are surfing around looking for a cool site. Well, you eventually find a site that has a heap of Free Online games, turn down the sound (or plug in your headphones) and zone out playing.

Like, I am sure that at some time you have done exactly that and if you haven’t why? Anyway, when you find somewhere that has a huge collection of Online Flash Games you just have to remember to bookmark it for the next class.

With over 3000 games in 13 different categories this has to be one of the best sites to hang out at. They even have a heap of multi-player games so that you cam be “working on the Lab” with your partner! To tell the truth, with 3000 different games to choose from you will have trouble finding the one you like - It might just take you all of the rest of the year. I found just 1 on the front page alone that I liked and that is the Snowboard stunts game - I had a few goes at it and I managed to score 37,130 after just a few goes.

The page that each of the games on have a heap of bookmark links so you can tag your favourites on sites such as Blink and Delicious. The fun doesn’t stop there - as you can grab the codes from any game and embed them into your own blog.

Bonsai tree seed

Saturday, April 28th, 2007

Patience is the key to live, well bonsai.

Ever seen an image of an old japanese fellow besides a bonsai. It’s fascinating. The bonsai is almost as big as the person ( we all know japanese people are short) and it seems so robust and healthy. Same goes for the nippon elder. I guess that practicing a patient art as bonsai must form your character and patience. Maybe that is the key to an healthy and long life? Just being not stressed and being patient about life will probably calm you and your surroundings and let you duck that heart attack at 55.

With that being said, I found a store about bonsai tree. It is Misho Bonsai. The name is rigth on the money since Misho is japanese for tree grown from a seed. Mishobonsai specialize in tree seeds, but you also find propagation material in their germination supplies section.

What is great, is that they provide seed germination instructions with all their seeds. They also have an articles sections with in house article, but also links to great bonsai articles found on the web. This means a newbie wont be left in the dark with is purchase. Avid growers can also find usefull new informations.

They have over 50 tree seeds species to choose from in their seed catalog. All of their offerings, are common species praised by bonsai adept. The store is for everyone, from first timers to nurseries and suppliers, Misho Bonsai offers small and bulk packets. Special orders and wholesale orders are also available.

Have a look, it worth the time, even if you are just curious about bonsai.

The most accurate websites on the Internet

Wednesday, April 25th, 2007

Wow, that is a pretty big claim isn’t it. The new MasterMOZ Directory is making a stand with some great innovations that have the real potential to make it the most accurate (and useful) directory around. Sure, we have looked at other directories in the past and your first question, like mine is probably what makes this one so unique immediately followed by how can they claim to be the most accurate! Well, after just a couple of minutes looking, the answer to both questions can be found.

The MasterMOZ directory is unlike any other, but similar to all. It has a totally different paradigm for a listing. First, you sign up for a free account, then you are eligible to immediately make a listing. In order to test this out, We signed up and created a listing and yes, the listing was available immediately!

With such a system in place you might think that is is open to abuse and that everyone will sign up and add all sorts of spammy sites. Well, that is true BUT the listing is unlikely to stay around for very long. You see, the power of this directory is that with a free account, you can only list a single site. Every single member can add a rating, review and comment about every site listed. This means that a listing that is not accurate will gain a lot of negative feedback by other people listing in the same category! In addition to this, there are reviewers in each category who will flag any in-appropriate listings. If a listing is flagged the Author will have 14 days to correct it otherwise it will be removed from the directory.

Of course, we signed up and tested it. It was simple and only took a couple of minutes to sign up and create a listing. As far as the site goes, it looks similar to other directories so it is easy to use. The members page gives you info about your listings along with details about upgrading your account so you can list more sites.

They have put together a directory that is a bit different which I hope gets the support of the Webmaster community and grows to be a useful directory that lives up to the claims.

Credit Card Search

Monday, April 23rd, 2007

Lets face it, in this day and age it is almost impossible to get by without a credit card. As you can make more and more purchases online it is pretty hard to hand over a wad of cash to make that purchase, so the online environment has favoured the use of a Credit card so you can make the purchase and they can get their money.

Since it has (almost) become inevitable to have a card then you should look for one that gives you what you want. With so many programs out there that offer some sort of incentive from airline miles to discounts on cars you can easily get lost trying to find the Best Credit Cards for you.

Not only is there all sorts of programs, then there are also a lot of places that you can get the card from - there are literally hundreds of banks and financial institutions competing for your Credit Card business. Let me tell you that all credit cards are not created equal and this is where you really need to be careful - look for one that has a low or no yearly fee and the lowest possible interest rates on your balance.

If you go to your bank, they will only be interested in signing you up for their product and you may not get the best possible deal. So this is where it becomes important to shop around using an independent source that will let you compare at minimum things like Annual interest rate, and Annual Fee. Well, you can find all of this out when you look and compare at the Credit Card Search Engine. I just selected a single category of card trhat is listed on the homepage - the Gas Rewards card and It gave me a list of 6 different cards on offer along with the info so I can compare them.

Once you have made a comparision and found a card that is right for you, simply click on the “Apply Now” Button near the card - saving you the trouble of tracking down the Issuer and getting an application from them directly.

In Touch on the move

Do you still know someone who doesn’t have a cellphone? How many people do you know that has more than 1? Well, I can answer these questions - First, hardly anyone I know doesn’t have a phone and a lot of people I know have more than 1.

We have all gone thru the hassle of finding the best phone and plan at some stage, and if you live in the UK and are looking for your first or next mobile phone the logical place to start looking is from the comfort of your own home. You can easily compare the plans, check out the latest handsets such as the LG Prada without getting the hassle and hard sell from a “Sales Assistant” - who really don’t often assist. You can easily compare what the different phone companies such as Orange offer and find a plan that suits your budget and lifestyle.

When dealing with someone - especially someone online it is always a good practice to ensure that they have a solid reputation and easy to find contact info. Well, the fact that they have been around for 11 years is a pretty good indicator regarding their reputation, and there is plenty of contact details to be found on the website.  Now, the website, of course the primary function is to be the online store. They provide a “virtual sales Assistant” (who by the way is not pushy) in the form of articles and information on all the products and services that are on offer. The site is easy to read and gives a pretty good description of what is on offer.  With a header and left colum navigation there is plenty of space to read the pages and see what is on offer.

Web Template Howto

Wednesday, April 18th, 2007

Nearly every webmaster has heard of Joomla - it is an open source CMS or Content Management system. It is a very popular tool that allows webmasters concentrate on providing content on a website rahter than getting bogged down in putting it all together. Now with a lot of people using it, quite often people tend to use one of the default templates or end up paying a small fortune for someone to design them something unique.

Well, it doesn’t have to cost you a fortune to create your own unique joomla template - you just need to know how to. As we siad, you could go out and pay a few hundred to buy a unique template or you can check out the Club TVK Joomla Template Kit. It is an inexpensive step by step toolkit that will show you how to create a great, unique template for your joomla powered website. The advantage of learning how to create Joomla Templates is that you not only get the ability to make your own website unique, but then you could also sell the templates themselves to other people!

The Club TVK website not only offers the Joomla Template Kit for sale, but has a few Free templates available for download as well. I went looking for a forum on their site and couldn’t find one in the navigation. Well, I thought that If I was payiong for something like this then I would like to be able to get help. But all is not lost - I clicked on the “Getting Started” link and it had a link on it to their forum. Well the forum is only available to registered users, which I suppose is a fair enough. I think that they should have added the Forum link to the site navigation to make it easier for users to find.

Give Dusty a Makeover

Wednesday, April 18th, 2007

Dusty is a really, really old mobile phone who is in need of a bit of bling! So, you can give him a bit of a makeover and then put him into the gallery for everone to vote on. First, you need to go and look at “Dusty Bender” and then go to the Gallery and vote for him - Well, we think he is the best one in the Dusty gallery, but we might be a tad biassed (ya think!) Once you have done voting, have a go and create your own Dusty.

Dusty is sponsored by Your Wireless source which is a store that sells cellphone accessories such as batteries, bluetooth headsets, chargers - and all sorts of other portable devices. But enough of that, lets get back to Dusty. To create your own Dusty is really simple - Just select his hair, eyes, mouth, then threads. Once you are done you can choose to save him to the gallery like we did. Now, you can also send a customised voice message to your friends as well - and as a bonus if you do, they will also get a discount code to use at YourWirelessSource.

Hey, He may be a bit of a novelty and fun, but what is life without fun? - Come on - if you have not voted for “Dusty Bender” in the gallery already now is a good time!
